How do we locate our driver or tour guide?
Your driver or tour guide will always be waiting for you at the confirmed sight with a sign.
If you are coming from a CRUISE SHIP we will be waiting for you outside the cruise terminals always with a sign of the family or parties name.
If you are staying in a hotel in or near the city center we will be waiting for you directly in the hotel lobby. Please aware the hotel concierge and they will identify us.
For Hotels near the airport or out of the city center: Many of these hotels provide shuttles to the city center. Your driver or guide can pick you up at the shuttle drop point or you may take a taxi or public transportation to our pre-arranged meeting point near the starting point of the tour. This is to maximize the amount of time spent exploring the sites.
If you are staying in an apartment rental without a lobby and a concierge we will meet you just outside the entrance of your rental apartment or B&B at the exact time of your pick up.
In case your accommodation is in an area where we cannot park our vehicles, your driver will park as close as possible and meet you at your door to escort you to the vehicle.
Is transportation included in the walking tours? Will my guide have transportation when meeting at the hotel?
Transportation is not included in the price of our walking tours. For private tours, your guide will coordinate taxis, walking or public transportation to get from your hotel to the first destination of the tour. Your party will be responsible for the cost of taxis or public transportation. Private transportation can be arranged at an additional charge.
For our group tours, we ask that you meet your guide on-site. A map and directions to the meeting point will be included in your confirmation.
If we are late for a tour, will you wait for us?
We give clients a grace period of max 10 minutes on semi-private tours since we understand that navigating an unfamiliar city can be difficult. Beyond this, we cannot guarantee that you will be able to meet up with the group as it is unfair to expect the other clients to wait. It is always a good idea to call us if you know you are going to be late so we can notify the guide. As a courtesy to our visitors, the guides turn off their phones after the start of the tour and will therefore be unreachable. We recommend giving yourself extra time to make sure that you arrive at the meeting point before the start time of the tour.
For private tours, your guide will wait for you for 30 minutes. After this time, if we have not heard from you, we will assume that you are not coming and your tour will be cancelled. Please notify us if you do not wish to take your scheduled tour so we may accommodate other visitors who would like to tour with us.
For Private Shore Excursions we will wait for you for 60minutes.After this time, if we have not heard from you, we will assume that you are not coming and your tour will be cancelled. Please notify us if you do not wish to take your scheduled tour so we may accommodate other visitors who would like to tour with us.
What is the difference between the Shore excursions offered by the Cruise line and yours?
The shore excursions offered by Private Tours Athens are private and customized to the passengers’ requests. This means you will have your own driver and vehicle. We pick you up from the pier or wherever you wish. You have the option of adding a guide for a more personal tour.
Can I switch the date of my private tour?
For private tours, we book both drivers and guides as far in advance as possible, as soon as you confirm your tour with us. We will try to accommodate any changes you request, but because of limitations in guides and drivers, we cannot guarantee your request will be granted.
Can you guarantee me a particular guide?
We will be happy to note a request for a particular guide or driver for private tours but cannot guarantee that guide’s availability. We will do our best to accommodate your request. For semi-private tours, we do not accept requests.
Do we get charged if the boat does not dock?
We take the credit card details purely for guarantee purposes, the credit card provided will not be charged at anytime. If the ship does not arrive into the port, this would not have been the client’s fault. However, the tour will be automatically re-scheduled once the boat is in the port, if you are still on board of course.
A fee would be charged if the tour was cancelled for any other reason within the 7 day cancellation period.
Is there a youth discount?
For semi-private tours, we offer a 30% discount off the regular price of the tour for children between the ages of 5 and 17. Our services are provided for free to children at or under the age of 4.
